As a young adult, Roberts often found himself on the wrong side of the law. After witnessing the murder of a close friend, he knew he had to turn his life around before he ended up in prison or dead. He chose to walk away from a life of petty crime and enlisted in the British Army as an Infantryman eventually landing in the Special Forces Selection course one year later. Once "Badged" into the British Special Air Service (SAS) Roberts saw service all over the world becoming an expert in desert warfare and soon adopted the code name: Desert Rat.-

This Desert Rat toy was added on June 2024 and originally released in 2021 with a retail price of $30.00. This action figure is part of the Action Force genre within the Action Force series and included in Wave 2 and is number 07. With an average selling price of $102.75, this toy is very collectible as it's selling for 3x over its retail price and is trending up. Quite a few (53) of these toys are in user collections so it does seem to be somewhat popular. Some of these figures are specifying that they are unpunched, which may have higher value over punched cardbacks.
After serving multiple tours of duty, Roberts, now a Staff Sergeant was assigned as the senior enlisted soldier in Condor's former unit. Whilst serving with Condor, the Captain outranked him but due to Desert Rat's age and combat experience he quickly became a trusted mentor to his unit's Leader. When Condor was sent to the U.S. as a liaison officer, Desert Rat retired becoming a Private Security Contractor. After becoming disillusioned with the industry, Roberts hung up his body armor and started combating his ever-wors- ening PTSD by drowning himself in alcohol. It wasn't until an old friend came calling that Roberts found his new purpose. That purpose was Action Force!
