Lifeline (real name Edwin C. Steen) is the Rescue Trooper and combat medic for the G.I. Joe team, first appearing in the line in 1986. Before enlisting in the Army as a corpsman, he spent five years as a paramedic with the Seattle Fire Department. He is an avowed pacifist who refuses to fire a weapon and is instead a black belt in the martial art of Aikido.
