The U.S.S. Flagg came with a two-piece vehicle, consisting of a tow vehicle and a fuel trailer. The set also featured multiple radar dishes, missile launchers, cannons, an elevator deck, arrestor cables, and an Admiral’s launch ship. Notably, one of the unique features of the Flagg was the electronic public address system, which essentially was a bullhorn connected to a speaker that allowed children to have their voice echo around a room. The PA system also played different battle sounds. Also Included with the Flagg was the commander, Vice-Admiral Keel-Haul.

80's Playset Review: G.I. Joe ULTIMATE U.S.S. FLAGG Aircraft Carrier by www.youtube.com review sentiment positive

Michael Mercy has reviewed a highly anticipated toy: the crown jewel of their collection, the GI Joe ultimate USS Flagg aircraft carrier. The toy is too large to fit in a normal-sized room or background and tends to suffer stress marks or breaks if disassembled and reassembled frequently. The toy is the biggest vehicle/playset ever made for GI Joe and it’s even named after the man who created the comic’s team, General Flagg. The Flagg is a whopping 7 feet long and 3.5 feet wide. The channel added a second, customized level to their Flagg, making the already large toy virtually enormous.

As well as its impressive size, the Flagg is no ordinary playset. While it does include several interactive gimmicks to stimulate play, it functions more as a display table for other GI Joe vehicles. It’s large enough to fit multiple vehicles at a time and even includes display options on its three-tier superstructure for show-off points. The main attraction is a swiveling missile launcher with six missiles.

1985 Vintage GI Joe USS Flagg Playset - Retro Showcase by www.youtube.com review sentiment positive

The 1985 USS flag playset was a marvel in its time and continues to fascinate even today. At 7.5 feet long and 2.28 meters, it's the largest playset or vehicle ever produced for any action figure line. Its creation, let alone its release, is a testament to Hasbro's commitment to bold and innovative toys that aren't bound by conventional sales or marketing constraints. The sheer scale and ambition of the USS flag make it an unrivaled piece in any collection, a singular item whose significance is so vast it informs the rest of the collection. However, like everything else, it has its deficiencies; the plastic yellows over time and the intricate pieces can break or get misplaced. Its size can also pose a challenge when it comes to storage. If you're not a GI Joe collector or unable to spend nearly a thousand dollars, the USS flag may not be for you. However, if size doesn't intimidate you and you have a deep appreciation for the titanic milestones in toy manufacturing, then this is an absolute must-have.

G.I. Joe 1985 U.S.S. Flagg Aircraft Carrier by www.youtube.com review sentiment positive

The Vintage GI Joe USS Flagg Aircraft Carrier is a massive playset that was first released in 1985 for $109.99 and continued its production through 1986 till its discontinuation in 1987. Spanning seven feet six inches in length and almost three feet in width, this ship resembles the USS Flagg from the 1980s GI Joe cartoon, which was featured in its theme song and a few episodes.

Notable features of the playset include the tow vehicle and fuel tank, the radar, twin anchors, anti-ship guns, and a 99 on the flight deck, all shared with the cartoon version. Various rooms include an admiral's chair, consoles, doors, ladders, and a speaker system. A tow vehicle for a green fuel tank as well as an arrester cable and hook.

However, some parts of this playset are hard to find and easy to lose, including Keel Hall's pistol, the fan tail railing, and the microphone system. Despite these challenges, it creates an outstanding display and an exciting story for every collector who manages to acquire it.
