Zabu is specifically known for his association with the superhero Ka-Zar. Zabu is a large, saber-toothed tiger and is one of the few remaining of his species, known as Smilodon, which is thought to be extinct in the modern world. He is native to the Savage Land, a hidden prehistoric land in Antarctica within the Marvel Comics universe.
Zabu is notable for his high intelligence, strength, and fierce loyalty. He shares a deep bond with Ka-Zar (whose real name is Kevin Plunder), whom he saved as a child when Kevin's family was stranded in the Savage Land. Since then, Zabu has been a constant companion and protector to Ka-Zar, and they have shared many adventures together, often involving the defense of the Savage Land's unique ecosystem and inhabitants from various threats.
Zabu, like many animals in the Savage Land, has some extraordinary abilities due to the peculiarities of his environment.
