DC DC Universe Classics Solomon Grundy (Collect & Connect)
Salmon Grundy is a recurring adversary of the superhero Green Lantern and Batman. Solomon Grundy first appeared in "All-American Comics" #61 in 1944.
The character's origin has varied over the years, but a common version of the story is that Cyrus Gold, a 19th-century man, was murdered and his body was dumped into Slaughter Swamp near Gotham City. The mystical properties of the swamp caused Gold to be resurrected as the undead and nearly invulnerable creature known as Solomon Grundy. The character is often portrayed as a mindless, rampaging monster with superhuman strength and endurance.
Solomon Grundy is named after a 19th-century nursery rhyme, which is reflected in his repetitive speech pattern where he often speaks in a rhyme. Despite his monstrous appearance and destructive tendencies, there have been instances in which Grundy has been portrayed with a tragic or sympathetic side.-
