The Star Wars 6" Black Series Anakin Skywalker action figure number 12, released in 2014, is a highly sought-after collectible.
Anakin Skywalker is initially introduced as a heroic Jedi Knight but eventually succumbs to the dark side of the Force and becomes Darth Vader, one of the most iconic villains in film history. This action figure captures Anakin in his pre-Darth Vader days, complete with his Jedi robes and lightsaber.
The action figure comes with a variety of accessories, most notable of these is Anakin's blue lightsaber, the weapon of choice for Jedi Knights. The lightsaber is made of plastic and is designed to fit securely in the action figure's hand. In addition to the lightsaber, the figure also comes with an interchangeable head, allowing collectors to switch between Anakin's normal appearance and a version of him that is beginning to show signs of his transformation into Darth Vader.
The figure's design is highly detailed, with a focus on accuracy and realism including Anakin's facial scar. The face sculpt is a good likeness of Hayden Christensen, the actor who portrayed Anakin in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. The figure's articulation points allow for a wide range of poses, making it a versatile addition to any Star Wars collection.
TBS6 #12 - Anakin Skywalker Summary by www.banthaskull.com
The new action figure stands out innovatively with its splendid articulation, starting from the ankle rocker. The joint offers spherical rotation and holds an impressive 129,000 points of articulation in line with an emerging standard in the community. This innovative system has turned a perceived disadvantage in my previous collections into an advantage, enriching the overall experience.
However, certain aspects of this figure are less impressive like the noticeable lack of material quality and paint application control. The lightsaber hilt and the hands are disappointingly rubbery. A stiffer plastic hilt would have paired better with the pliability of the hands, aiding in striking desired poses easily. The neck ball joint exhibits bias towards the left, creating an evident void on that side. Furthermore, the painted Vader's head indulged carelessly might affect vision.
On a positive note, the rubbery aspect only affected the hands and hilt and conversely, the rest is of stiffer plastic as expected. The legs function admirably similar to the 6” Black Series. However, there are limitations to motion in certain areas including the hips and the head due to molding and limitations of the ball joints at the elbow.
I admire the seamless blend of the sculpted top body and the soft lower body. The lower tabard's leather-like appearance augments the overall look.
